Wk 11- Traditional vs Online advertising (post 1)

Traditional vs Online advertising is very different from each other but at the end they both serve for the same purpose. When researching I found that traditional advertising is what we see on a daily basis without us noticing too much. Such as when we are walking around and see a 'garage sale this way' sign that is considered traditional advertising. Or when we are driving and see a car next to us wrapped in a certain advertisement. Even billboards all of this is traditional advertising. Although it might have been obvious to us that they are trying to advertise but the truth is we probably weren't truly aware that its actual name was traditional or it's categorized that way.

Next I think everyone has also seen online advertising somewhere, depending if you are on social media a lot or not. But in some form everyone has seen it, such as when a youtube advertisement comes up and you can't skip it, well that is online advertising. You can be scrolling through instagram and see certain post come up with advertisement on the top. Facebook has a variety of advertisements all from different kinds. All of this is considered online advertising and sometimes I feel like it can be more convenient depending on your audience but often times it's worked very well. It can also be less costly because although you are still paying a fee that is about it and your advertisement remains online.

Now discussing on cost, as mentioned before online advertising can be less costly but their are also times where that isn't the case such as if you want to put a full production advertisement such as a video. Then that's when it becomes more costly. But if you are just doing post advertising then it's not as much. Now for traditional advertising that is more costly such as wrapping your car or putting up a billboard. These may be a lot more costly depending on who you are trying to reach. But it can also be less costly at times as well such as putting up a sign (although you do have to be careful with the city, everyone has different laws). Even putting up a poster outside of your store is still considered traditional advertising and this doesn't have to be very costly.

Both traditional and online advertising have their own perks and are different costs. But at the end it all truly depends on what is your goal and where are you trying to reach with your business. There are many more different ways to advertise and different ways can work for you and not particularly the ones I mention but it is important to know the difference between advertising as one may need it someday or might be interested.

For me personally I think I want to incorporate both types of advertising towards my business because it is always great to experiment with both. Because it can essentially lead you to know what how you're audiences are reacting to both and which one works better. It is good to start small and then go on from there and see how you can advertise in a 'bigger' way. Advertising is always going to be there and will be needed at times such as holiday's, sales or any other special event.
